How will this workshop be taught?
This training day will be split into two sessions, with Google Classroom in the first part and Google Apps for Education during the second part. The Google Classroom session will begin with a “KWL” discussion, beginning with what learners already know about the program and then moving into what the learners want to know about it. The learners will then watch a tutorial video about Google Classroom and brainstorm any other ways that Google Classroom could be used. The instructor will lead learners through a step-by-step process in creating a Google Classroom using the Promethean board and through interactive lecture. Then learners will be able to create another classroom on their own or modify the newly created one. For the second session on Google Apps for Education, learners will access and explore the Google App/Play store and search for educational apps. Learners will also review and analyze the various app that they find to determine which apps would be beneficial to them in their own classroom and practices. After learners have been given time to search and select different apps, they will participate in discussion to share their apps that they discovered, provide a brief overview of the app’s purpose, and will share ideas about how educators can use that app. At the end of the second session, learners will all participate in creating a collaborative Google Doc of all of the beneficial apps for education that they found for future reference.
